West End News

Welcome Karen Mondary, New 8th Grade Language Arts Teacher
Karen Mondary received her B.S. in English-Education from Austin Peay State University in 2007 and has taught English-Language Arts for seven years in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System. She is joining West End Middle School as an 8th grade English-Language Arts teacher. A strong advocate for project-based learning, she involves her students in hands-on, real-world relevant activities throughout the school year. Her professional interests focus on growing every student she teaches through motivation and her current projects include writing a series of novel guides to incorporate common core standards and physical movement to inspire reluctant learners. In addition, she serves as an Edmodo ambassador, fostering collaboration between educators world-wide.

In the course of her seven years of teaching, Mrs. Mondary has been honored with two consecutive Green Apple Awards, a Spotlight Award, and the Distinguished Educator Award. Her greatest ambitions are to publish a novel, travel to all seven continents, and to make a difference in the life of her students.

World Language Selection for Band Students
In the interest of continually improving our school programs, we are are making an important change to our related arts program for students in band. This year, band students will receive world language on Thursdays during related arts time. Band students will need to choose which world language class they would like to study: Chinese or Spanish. If you are in band, please take this survey so that we may schedule you accordingly. Availability in both world language options will be determined on a first come, first served basis.

We will additionally keep a sign up list in the main office if you prefer to declare in person at school.

Students not in band will continue to receive Chinese, PE, Spanish, and Art this year.
